Vincenc Beneš was a Czech painter, active also as an art critic and publicist. He studied at the School of Applied Arts and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. During his studies, he undertook study trips to Dresden, Berlin, Munich and Paris. In 1913, he founded a private painting school in Prague together with Otakar Nejedlý. He was an active member of the Osma and the Group of Fine Artists. In 1963, he was appointed a national artist.(source: Wikipedia)
