Taras Kuščynskyj

Taras Kuščynskyj was a Czech photographer. He was born in Prague to Ukrainian parents who fled from Kremenchuk to Czechoslovakia in 1919 to escape the Bolsheviks. He spent his early childhood in Subcarpathian Rus, where his parents worked as teachers. After high school, he studied architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague and after completing his studies he worked as a designer. From 1966 he worked as a freelance photographer. He exhibited not only at home but also abroad. The main theme of his photographs is women. He photographed in the wild and refused artificial lighting and special equipment. He also devoted himself to landscape photography, especially high mountain photography. He also created a number of portraits of cultural personalities. Taras Kuščynskyj died in his home in Prague of cancer, which he had been fighting for the last two years of his life.(source: Wikipedia)
