Jaroslav Šetelík

Jaroslav Šetelík was a Czech academic painter and landscape artist. He was born on August 10, 1881 in Tábor to Antonín Šetelík, a high school professor and died on December 12, 1955 in Prague. His works can be found not only in Czech galleries but also in foreign galleries such as the Netherlands, Sweden or Belgium.

Šetelík studied at F. Engelmüller’s school and studied law for several months. In the end, however, he left his legal studies and went to Munich with the intention of devoting himself to painting. After returning to Prague he fully focused on his painting.

His work is characterized mainly by landscape painting with motifs mainly from Bohemia and Moravia. He also painted portraits and figurative compositions.

Jaroslav Šetelík was a very talented painter and his works are still highly valued today. His paintings are full of colors and life and perfectly capture the beauty of the Czech landscape.(source: Wikipedia)
